Day 11 - The Dome, the church, the supermarket
Up into the dome, down into the church... oh, and a trip to the grocery.

So our weekend trip to Sorrento fell through. We never wound up being able to book a hotel room and we decided against just showing up there and looking for one (yes, a room would probably be available, but we are on a budget). But how upset can you be when your lost weekend means you have more time to be in rome?
My roommate needed to convert some traveler's checks into Euros, so we headed down to Vatican city (the exchange rate is not quite as favorable there as elsewhere in Rome, but there are no fees or service charges at the Vatican). On the walk there we noticed the Vatican Museums were closed, and realized that meant this was probably a good day to go to St. Peters' Dome (most tourists like to hit everything in Vatican City in one afternoon, so with one option closed the site is less attractive to the general masses).
After the dome trip, we stopped at the grocery on the way home. I know that sounds very exciting, but it is a little different than back home.
