The ruins of an ancient port city, and some boats.

Another Saturday night:

Our weekend plans to go somewhere interesting again sort of fell apart as the week went on (school keeps getting in the way of things); however we learned there is a free concert in town on Sunday with Beck and Duran Duran headlining it (that doesn't sound too bad does it?).

With a hot Saturday before us, we decided to visit the ruined port city of Ostia Antica and go to the beach afterwards. Both places are accessible via the same spur of the urban railway (its about a 30 minute ride from downtown Rome). And even better, the urban railways are included in the monthly pass I bought when I got here.

Ostia Antica reminds you of Pompeii, but the building styles are a bit different. Also, you have more access to areas in Ostia Antica (though it's not as well preserved). The beach reminds you of a beach (imagine that), only it's on the sea rather than the ocean. Another day well spent.
