DSCF1539 Not far from the Spagna Metro stop you begin seeing shops. DSCF1540 DSCF1541 DSCF1542 Horse drawn carriage rides are available at the base of the Spanish Steps. DSCF1543 And right across from the horses is another shop. DSCF1544 Bernini's sinking boat fountain (at the base of the Spanish Steps). He overcame a water pressure problem by making the boat spring leaks. DSCF1545 DSCF1546 DSCF1547 The steps are always crowded. DSCF1548 DSCF1549 One of Prada's stores. DSCF1551 DSCF1552 Gucci... DSCF1553 Cartier... DSCF1554 Valentino (right, check the name in the window). DSCF1555 DSCF1556 Armani (these are all next to or across from each other). DSCF1561 DSCF1562 DSCF1563 This was a store where some of the things looked kind of neat to me. DSCF1564 Versace seems to have the most shops in the district. DSCF1565 A very silver chair by Versace. Turn to the left, turn to the right. FASHION:

After taking a lot of pictures of Italian girls for my lecherous friends... ummm, I mean male compatriots with artistic appreciation of the female form, I thought I should try to give back. Okay, this may be a shallow way to do so, but I took a trip to Rome's most expensive shopping neighborhood and shot some pictures. These are all places I cannot afford to shop at or buy you things from, yet.

The designer area is located from the base of the Spanish Steps for a few blocks south (this includes a few blocks east and west). Several designers have multiple stores, seemingly for the different types of looks they offer. Amusingly, I have heard that aside from the very upscale restaurants in this neighborhood, the more moderate places to eat are among the worst in the city (offering frozen foods that they heat up, much like eating at a lot of restaurants back home).

If you like designer clothes, shoes, more shoes, purses, even more shoes, ties, belts, etc. all for high prices, this is the area for you. The stores are seperated by narrow stone streets, and you need only walk a few feet before coming across three more places that would bankrupt most people for an outfit.
