Here is a
sampling of my writing.

- I wrote this one a long while
ago while working at a library. I still find driving on open
roads at night to be soothing.
The
Almighty Abandonment
- This one may seem rather harsh,
but I think the imagery and pacing work well.
Allotted
- I'm generally rather critical
of what I write, but I think there is beauty lurking in this one.
Astray
- Another attempt at conveying an
emotion more complex than simply being sad.
At the
Market
- I'm sure it must have been
inspired by real life, but for I cannot recall the exact event.
Blanche
- Pieced together broken
conversation that I titled after the second biggest villian in A Streetcar Named Desire (an
English professor and I have a long-running argument about this).
Exterior
Remodeling
- I know this person. You
know this person. They may not be the same person, but they are.
Love: Middle
English, from Old English lufu.
- A short poem. I feel it
evokes a much longer story.
Out
- This one is meant to be read
aloud with a rythm (I wrote a few of these, but this is the only one
I've posted).
Scratches
- I think I'm playing with words
and poetry here, with a barb thrown at a style of "music."
Stained
Glass
- This is the longest poem I have ever written. It is a
fragmented response to T.S. Eliott's The
Wasteland, which is an amazing poem (perhaps a little too
depressing though). This one earned me an invitation to a
conference of English professors and students to recite it and take
questions on it.
They Cut
Down the Hedges
- A very short poem that recalls
a place a lived while I was very young.
Tragedy
- The more I look at this one,
the more I think it's crap. But I still think the line about the
initiation of tragedy is good. Maybe I'll scrap everything else
and write something new around that.
With
Apologies to Ms. Dickinson
- This one isn't about Emily D,
but I swiped a line from one of her poems and stuck it in here.
And no, that is not plagarism.
You
- I'm not sure how technically good this one is, but it is positive
(and I get criticism that I'm not positive enough in writing).
