I have a BA in English.

The Almighty Abandonment

When desperation takes disguised form,
seeping through the cracks of family ideals,
creeping from the eyes of the wicked
into the hearts of the good-natured damned;

Confusion will rupture scarred synapses,
watching an angel tear his own feathers
then beat his wings in a failed flight
and a fine spray of divinity's blood.

The ground is littered with nostalgia
then piled high on an old man's chest
forcing the breath from his lungs
and hastening an undesired death.

The family twists and bends then blends
into filthy birds of pagan legends
a flock of carrion picking harpies
waiting for abandonment with the rapture.

Yet God's eye still wanders nowhere near,
and his son, though perched high by nails,
lacks the vantage or the compassion
to stop life from evaporating here.
